Kingdom hearts 3 review embargo7/5/2023 ![]() ![]() Some of this year’s release schedule remains a mystery, which I kinda prefer since Red Dead Redemption II overshadowed the line-up and perhaps explains some of the deflation at the realisation it isn’t the best game ever made. I’m just hoping this year’s winner is not so obvious. I must admit it was a surprise to see it was GC’s top pick because I remember them being conflicted over an 8 or 9/10, but were swayed by the ending. Last year’s best game (God Of War) was released relatively early also (April). I know I will thoroughly enjoy Resident Evil 2, but there is something slightly deflating about the prospect of possibly playing the best game of the year as early as January. SimplyGames/ShopTo customers will no doubt boast they have been playing it for days. I can’t wait to load up Resident Evil 2 just after midnight, which is another benefit of digital purchases – no more midnight launches with the great unwashed. Also, it looks like you’d be able to play the PC version too. We’d definitely recommend it, as it’s one of our favourite games ever. GC: XCOM isn’t that hard, especially if you’re already familiar with the basics. Do you have any recommendations? I know I could try the XCOM games but I hear that they’re a lot harder. It was the first XCOM style game I’ve played and has definitely made me interested in trying out similar games. Overall a really fun game to play even if it was challenging in places, especially on some of the boss battles which each were quite inventive also. ![]() It looks lovely and the animations for attacks were good too. I enjoyed how every character felt unique and how you could upgrade them with new abilities and weapons. I think it is my favourite Switch exclusive after Zelda: Breath Of The Wild (yes, I have played Super Mario Odyssey). Lat night I finished Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle on Switch and I thought it was excellent. I don’t think this is going to end up being seen as a good idea… I think once more reliable sites, that aren’t beholden to Square Enix, get hold of it we’re looking more at 7s and 6s.Īnd of course now that they’ve made a thing of stopping people doing reviews on time we’re all going to be looking at the reviews and the game even more critically. Looking at GameSpot’s review, which I tend to find the most reliable of the big US sites, it’s only an 8/10 and there seems to be a lot of excuses made for a confusing story, barren worlds, and sub-par gameplay. But the whole game leaked over a month ago and you can easily look up the spoilers (except the epilogue) online if you want to. I’ve heard some people suggest it’s because of spoilers. You’ll excuse me if I’m highly suspicious of all this. Now the embargo is over it seems only a handful of American sites got a copy and, inevitably, gave it a good review. And then I saw all the other big sites saying that they didn’t have it either. I was surprised to see GC say that they had not been sent Kingdom Hearts III for review, even though the embargo is today, but I at first assumed that Square Enix was being defensive because of GC’s reputation for firm but fair scores. ![]()
